दीपक त्याच्या बायको आणि मुली सोबत मागच्याच महिन्यात गावावरून शहरात आला. त्याच गाव तस शहरापासून फक्त ५० किलोमीटरवर होत, त्यामूळे कधीही गावी जायची वेळ आली कि त्याला लगेच निघता येणार होत.
दिपकच पूर्ण शिक्षण गावी झाल, १२वी नंतर त्याने बी. एस. सी. ॲग्रिकल्चर मधे डिग्री घेतली होती. वडिलोपार्जित २० एकर शेती होती, शेतीची खूप आवड त्याला लहानपणीच निर्माण झाली होती म्हणून त्याच क्षेत्रात त्याने शिक्षण घेतले. शिक्षणाचा त्याने पुरेपूर उपयोग करुन वडिलांना शेतीत भरपूर मदत केली आणि लवकरच त्यांच्या शेतात सोन पिकू लागल. विज्ञान आणि तंत्रज्ञानाचा योग्य वापर झाला.
आता दिपक शहरात बी. एस. सी ॲग्रिकल्चरच्या मुलांना गेस्ट लेक्चरर म्हणून संबोधित करतो. त्याने स्वतः काही शेतीला उपयुक्त असलेल्या यंत्रणात बदल केले आणि नवीन मशीन बनवले होते. त्याने काही महिन्यांपूर्वी एक मोठ दुकान चालू केल होत, त्या दुकानात शेतीला लागणारी प्रत्येक वस्तू ठेवली होती. कोणाला काही मदत लागली तर तो लगबगीने साथ द्यायचा.
मंगळवारचा दिवस होता, दिपकने नवीन गाडी घेतली होती. गाडीची पूजा करायला तो, त्याच्या पत्नी आणि मुली सोबत घराजवळच्या गणपती मंदिरात आला होता. मंदिरात पूजेची तयारी चालू होती आणि दीपक फोनवर बोलता बोलता बाहेर फेऱ्या मारत होता. अचानक त्याला पन्नाशीतील एक बाई दिसली, तो धावत तिच्या समोर गेला. त्या बाईला बघत उभा राहिला, शेवटी त्या बाईने त्याला विचारले, ” कोण तुम्ही? माझा रस्ता का अडवलात?” दीपकचा चेहरा हरषावलेला होता, त्याने भररस्त्यात त्या बाईच दर्शन घेतल, ” तुम्ही सुनंदा देसाई, दहावीला माझ्या वर्गशिक्षिका होत्या. तुम्ही मला जे ज्ञान दिले त्यामुळेच माझी इतकी प्रगती झाली आणि मी माझ्यासोबत इतर लोकांना देखील प्रोत्साहन देउ शकलो. मी दिपक भुजबळ, १९९९ च्या बॅच मधे होतो. तुम्हाला कदाचित आठवत नसेल पण दहावीच्या चाचणी परीक्षेच्या वेळेस माझे वडिल खूप आजारी पडले होते आणि मी माझ्या घरच्यांसाठी शिक्षण थांबवणार होतो. तेव्हा तुम्ही आमच्या घरी आलात, प्रेमाने समजावून परिक्षेला घेउन गेलात. आपण चालत जात होतो तेव्हा तुम्ही एक गाण गायल होत…

देसाई बाई त्याला न्याहाळत होत्या, ” दीपक भुजबळ तुला मी नाही विसरले, पण विस वर्षात तु खुपच बदललास. सगळे तुला दिपू ह्या नावाने बोलवायचे, वर्गात सर्वात उंच होतास तु आणि कायम ग्राउंडवर खेळायला पळायचा. माझी बदली खूप दुरच्या गावात झाली होती. दहा वर्ष झाले मी इकडेच राहते समोरच्या बिल्डिंग मधे. चल ना घरी गप्पा मारुयात.” ” नाही बाई आज नाही जमणार,” दिपकने उत्तर दिले आणि इतक्यात त्याची बायको आणि ८ वर्षांची लेक तिकडे आले, ” ओ पप्पा कोणाशी बोलताय? आम्ही वाट बघत होतो तुमची केव्हापासून, पुजा करायची आहे ना?” त्याची लेक त्याचा हात पकडून विचारत होती. ” अग थांब सोन्या, ह्या बघ माझ्या टिचर आहेत देसाई बाई.” सोनूने लगेच त्यांचे दर्शन घेतले, ” तुम्हीच पप्पाला ते गाण शिकवले का? पप्पा बोलतात तुम्ही नसता तर ते शिकले नसते!” सोनूने बाईंला विचारल. ” होय मिच ती. पण मी माझ काम केल. तुझे पप्पा हुशार होते, त्यांनी पण खूप मेहनत केली,” देसाई बाईंनी उत्तर दिले.
“बाई आज मी नवीन गाडी घेतली, त्याची पुजा कराल का तुम्ही. आम्हाला खूप आवडेल,” दिपकने विनंती केली. ” खूप छान … अभिनंदन. मला खूप आनंद होईल,” देसाई बाईंनी हसून होकार दिला. सोनूने त्यांचा हात धरला आणि गाण गात ते मंदिरात गेले….
