Sometimes you wake up with a dream that you saw last night and there is a sweet smile on your face and then there are times when you wake up terrified with your heart in your mouth. And there are also times when you are overwhelmingly joyous about the dream you saw last night that you remember ever details vividly.
I am not at all a sports person, never played, and never watched it. Cricket is just like a religion that is followed in India, there are die-hard fans of this game and people who swear by the cricket players too. I enjoy watching the world cups and do cheer for the Indian team but I have never known the names of all the players by heart, if any of them comes in front of me I might not even recognize them, except for one- the God- none other than Sachin Tendulkar.
I was certainly not a fan, but I knew he is a legend who holds records in the world of cricket and owns a tiny piece of the heart of many many people. I became a fan when I actually saw him on the stage and felt people’s love for him at D.Y.Patil stadium at the A.R. Rehman live concert where he paid a surprise visit. Can you believe seeing 2 gods at a time, I am sure everyone’s heart must have raced as fast as running between the wickets! And my heart beat so fast that it must have reached Sachin because since then he decided to visit me in my dreams.
No other celebrity has ever come in my dreams multiple times except Sachin Tendulkar. He has come in my dreams 5 times and I remember all of them, his walk, his smile, his courteousness, his warmth. The first dream was at the airport, I was with my husband and kid at the airport and both of them had gone to buy something for my kid and I was slurping the tall cup of Starbucks with head glued to my phone and sunglasses on. I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned around to see THE Sachin Tendulkar, “Oh my god! You are Sachin Tendulkar. Why are you talking to me?” He smiled, took a seat next to me, and said, “Where are you traveling?” I haphazardly answer, “You want to know where I am traveling? Why? How? Are you real or is this some bakra stunt!” He pinched me, “I am real. I just felt like talking to you.” Even in my dream, I was nervous and happy and excited all at a time, but we had a good chat where he was talking to me just like my friend would, giving me travel tips and saying that he liked my bag pack. I asked him about his kids Arjun and Sara, both of us stuck with the coincidence of our son’s name being Arjun. Then my son came running with two toys in his hand, “Mumma, what should I play with, this car or this bus? Look at me, Mumma.” And damn, end of my Sachin dream. I was so happy for the entire day, only because I saw Sachin in my dream.
Every time he has visited me, he has been humble, soft-spoken, happy, holding a great smile. And that every single time my weeks have been happier. So much happier that even my husband knows that when I am super duper happy, it was Sachin Tendulkar who was in my dream last night. They say, “If you dream a thing more than once, it’s sure to come true.” I will be waiting for this one to come true, to meet the GOD of millions of people, to meet the humble person, to chat with a person with a sweet smile, to see a person who has made himself worthy to be a GOD.
